U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Celebrates with a Ticker Tape Parade … But They Must Get Ready for the Next Big Battle!

July 10, 2019 - 5:52 pm

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team was the star of an old fashioned New York City ticker tape parade through the “Canyon of Heroes” up Broadway on Wednesday. The players rode through a downpour of confetti while the large crowd of fans cheered with approval.

The crowds could be heard yelling “USA! USA!” showing their pride in this team that returned home with its third World Cup Trophy. The crowd could also be heard calling out for “Equal Pay” as the members of this World Championship Team will soon be entering arbitration in order to achieve equal compensation with their male counterparts.

After the parade, the team made its way from New York to Los Angeles where they will walk the red carpet at the ESPY awards. The U.S. Women’s will also play a “friendly” match versus Ireland on August 3rd at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

The members of the team had filed a federal suit in 2016 demanding class-action certification, back pay, interest, damages and more. The women must first try to arbitrate a settlement with their employer – the United States Soccer Federation. The team most certainly faces some tough days ahead.

In the meantime, it is time celebrate a great victory.
