The Sacramento Kings zoomed past the Utah Jazz 128-115 on Monday night in Salt Lake City. The Kings were playing their fourth preseason game of 2019 and appeared to be “hitting on all cylinders”. They put 78 points in the scorebook by halftime.

On the other side of the court, the Utah Jazz continued their struggle to find their defensive footing. The Jazz made some big additions to their team by bringing in Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic and Emmanuel Mudiay to help take the team to the next level. The offense is gelling, but the defense is lagging behind at the moment which is not an unusual scenario.

Kings (2-2)

Six Sacramento players scored in double figures:

  • Buddy Hield put up a game-high 23 points shooting 9-for-17 overall and 3-for-6 from downtown. He also added five assists.
  • Marvin Bagley III recorded a double-double as he scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with two blocked shots. Bagley also hit 2 of 4 attempts from behind the 3-point line. The team wants Bagley to improve his 3-point shooting to help stretch the floor.

  • Bogdan Bogdanovic came off the bench to record 16 points plus he dished eight assists. The Kings used “Bogey” at point guard in the game last night for some of his minutes. James Ham of NBC Sports California has dubbed Bogdanovic the Kings “Swiss Army Knife”. That is a great description. Bogdanovic can play the point, shooting guard and small forward which makes him a very valuable player to Sacramento.
  • De’Aaron Fox added 14 points in just 19 minutes of playing time. He hit 5 of 11 shots from the floor plus he added four assists.
  • Richaun Holmes also came off the bench for the Kings and scored 11 points in just 12 minutes on the floor. He went a perfect 4-for-4 shooting and converted 3 of 3 opportunities from the free throw line.
  • Yogi Ferrell played with second unit and put up 10 points.

Key team stats:

  • Field Goal Shooting 46.0% (46-for-100) 16 more attempts than the Jazz!
  • 3-point Shooting 36.8% (14-for-38)
  • Free Throw Shooting 75.9% (22-for-29)
  • Rebounds 43 – 11 offensive rebounds which helped the Kings outscore the Jazz 22-13 on 2nd Chance Points and 24-16 for Fast Break Points
  • Assists 26 versus Turnovers 12 which meets the 2-to-1 ratio goal. The 12 turnovers resulted in 18 points for the Jazz. The Jazz committed 20 turnovers that the Kings turned into 29 points.
