As Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles look to turn their 2020 season around Sunday, they'll enter a crucial matchup without one of their most important offensive weapons.

When the Eagles take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football, they won't have DeSean Jackson at their disposal. Jackson is out with a hamstring injury, with the team also announcing Friday that cornerbacks Avonte Maddox and Trevor Williams will miss the game as well. Left tackle Jason Peters, coming off of one of the worst games of his career, is questionable with a foot injury.

Jackson, who will turn 34 in December, missed nearly all of the 2019 season because of a core muscle injury. Still, he had nine catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 1 victory over the Washington Football Team a season ago. That performance led many to think that once he recovered from the surgery he had to repair his core muscle injury, Jackson still had a lot to give. To this point, his production has been pretty underwhelming in 2020, as he has just 10 catches for 121 yards in three games.

Jackson's absence is made worse by the fact that first-round pick Jalen Reagor was placed in injured reserve this week following a procedure to repair a torn UCL in his right thumb. He missed Week 3, and after being placed on injured reserve, will have to sit for at least three more games.

The Eagles, of course, have had a disastrous start to the 2020 season. While Doug Pederson's team has done a pretty remarkable job of overcoming injuries the past three seasons, the injury bug has carried over to 2020 and thus far, it's proven to be too much to overcome. While it's far from the only factor, a decimated wide receiving corps has certainly contributed to Wentz's struggles through the first three games of the season, as he's been picked off multiple times in each game.
