Brewers Walk Off Against Cubs

Woodruff throws 7 scoreless innings

September 12, 2020 - 7:46 am

In the Brewers final homestand of the 2020 season, the Brewers and Cubs opened up a 3-game set Friday night. It was a pitchers duel at Miller Park as Brandon Woodruff and Jon Lester went head to head.

Woodruff finally got the start he was looking for as he tossed 7 innings of one-hit baseball. His final line on the night was: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB and 12 strikeouts.
This was Woodruff's best performance on the season and it came in a huge game down the final stretch of the season.

Jon Lester threw 6 innings, giving up just 3 hits and no runs given up. He would also strikeout 8 Brewers hitters in that time.

In a game tied at 0 heading into the bottom of the 9th, the first two batters reached for the Brewers. With runners at the corners and Ryan Braun up to bat, the Cubs elected to bring 5 infielders in to stop the run at the plate. Braun was able to lift a Jeremy Jeffress sinker into the deep outfield to drive in Christian Yelich with a walk-off sac fly.

The Brewers and Cubs will face off in game two Saturday night at 6:10 PM.
